About the Artists…

The North Kingstown Community Chorus, with Roberta Belanger as director, held its first formal concert in 1985 with 24 singers.  The group now numbers about 100 dedicated and enthusiastic singers of all ages. Roberta started the Youth Chorus in 1991 because not every elementary school in North Kingstown offered the students the opportunity to participate in a school chorus.

The chorus holds an annual spring and winter concert along with benefit concerts throughout the year.  We perform ballads, popular tunes, musical comedy, seasonal favorites, patriotic tunes and more!  One of our concert goals is to have fun!! When we have fun it spreads out to the entire audience helping to create a truly enjoyable experience for everyone in the auditorium.

A fabulous band and young dancers from a local dance studio add dimension to our concert programs, as do performances by small groups of singers in specialty numbers. The audience is always kept on its toes.

The North Kingstown Community Chorus is fully supported financially by membership fees, music fees, ticket fees and funds raised by selling advertising space in the concert program.  We raise enough money to award an annual $1,000 music scholarship gift to a high school senior residing in North Kingstown who is planning to study music in college.  We also support the North Kingstown School Department music department with donations for music materials and music related activities.
