About the Artists…

These exceptional young artists from Downingtown, Pennsylvania have gained an international reputation for excellence, having toured the United States, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, and China. In competitions, they generally garner first place, superior ratings, and special awards for student and staff leadership. The choral music program at DEHS has a long history of traditions and performances that enrich the lives of its members. The choirs have participated in master classes with the Barbershop Harmony Society, composer Eric Whitacre, and with several collegiate ensembles and professors. They have performed at the ROMAinCANTO Festival, Disney World, and with Festivals of Music in New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C. They have also appeared for numerous community functions.

Mr. Adam Speakman has been the Choral Director at Downingtown High School East Campus since 2006. In addition to conducting the numerous choral ensembles, he is also the Music Director for musical theater productions at DEHS. Mr. Speakman holds a Master of Music degree in Music Education and certification in Kodály Methodology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Principal Certification from Cabrini College, a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Susquehanna University and certification in Music Technology from the Technology Institute for Music Educators. Mr. Speakman’s students have actively participated in numerous Pennsylvania Music Educators Association events and his choirs have competed and performed in many national and international choral festivals. Mr. Speakman is a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the Organization of American Kodály Educators, Kodály Educators of Eastern Pennsylvania, the Technology Institute for Music Educators, the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.

May 28, 2012 Thomaskirche, Leipzig – Montana State University Chorale

The Montana State University Chorale is devoted to the artistic and inspirational performance of distinguished choral literature. Selected by audition from Montana State’s enrollment of 13,000 students, Chorale’s annual performance itinerary includes two formal concerts each semester, and frequent international tours to countries including China, the Philippines, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.

The Chorale is directed by Dr. Kirk Aamot, Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.  A graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota with advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of Colorado, Boulder, Dr. Aamot has studied with Anton Armstrong, Kenneth Jennings, Kathy Romey, Thomas Lancaster, Larry Kaptein, and Joan Conlon.
